Leading experts to steer SocInvest 2010

Published: 2009-05-26 10:31:09

Jamie Kerr, director of regeneration and education at John Laing has joined the steering group for SocInvest 2010, the UK’s leading regeneration funding summit. He is joined by Core Cities director Chris Murray and Christopher Munday of the Welsh Assembly.

Event organiser 3Fox International (3FI) set up the high-level steering group as part of the plan to increase the influence and value of SocInvest 2010. Its members will contribute to the planning of next year’s event to ensure that it builds on the success of the first two annual summits. The third event in the series will be held on April 13th 2010 in London.

3FI is inviting representatives from all the key sectors involved in regeneration funding activities, including financial institutions, developers, law firms and regional and local government funding and finance officers.

In accepting the invitation to join the group, Kerr said: “I agreed to sit on the steering panel for SocInvest after speaking at this year's SocInvest conference in Manchester. I have spoken at three conferences this year about our experience of winning and closing Croydon and Tunbridge Wells LABVs and I found SocInvest the best by a long way in terms of the quality both of speakers and attendees from different but complementary backgrounds. The debate around key topical issues was well informed and relevant in today's market.”

A second member of the steering group, Core Cities director Chris Murray, added: “I am delighted to be appointed to the SocInvest 2010 steering committee.  More than ever, regeneration financing needs to be at the top of the agenda for government, the industry and the public sector.  SocInvest has become an essential annual component in the debate on how to improve the way we fund and deliver regeneration. The 2010 event is planned at a moment of potentially seismic change for the sector.”

In addition, Christopher Munday, head of funding solutions at the Welsh Assembly Department for the Economy and Transport, agreed to join the group. He said: "I have no hesitation in accepting the invitation to be a member of the SocInvest 10 Steering Committee as it seems to be a rare opporunity for bringing forward the implementation of existing ideas and the encouragement of new approaches to regeneration funding."

More details of the group members and their role will be provided in future newsletters.
