Edinburgh Waterfront leads the race for TIF approval

Edinburgh could become the first UK local authority to fund infrastructure for regeneration using tax increment financing. The city aims to apply the funds to its waterfront regeneration programme.

Bouygues and Laing O’Rourke form rail and nuclear JVs

Two contractors are combining to secure contracts for London’s Crossrail project, including the new station on the Isle of Dogs.
 
Bouygues and Laing O’Rourke are to sign a memorandum of understanding to enable them to compete for infrastructure work on the £16 billion scheme. They have also already entered the bidding process for EDF’s proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset. read more

Bradford’s City Park gets £25 million go-ahead at last

Bradford’s City Park scheme last month finally guaranteed its start-up with a mixed funding package from Yorkshire Forward, the HCA and the Regional Transport Board as well as Bradford Council itself.
 
The Council has been trying for some time to create a brand new city centre park to act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the West Yorkshire city, but was rejected by the Big Lottery Fund in 2007. read more
