Government launches new approach to local regeneration

CLG minister Hazel Blears outlined the government’s latest strategy for local regeneration in a speech on May 11th to the British Urban Regeneration Association conference in London.

More details also came with the publication by CLG of “Transforming Places Changing Lives”, a report laying out a new development framework for local authorities in England.

Leading experts to steer SocInvest 2010

Jamie Kerr, director of regeneration and education at John Laing has joined the steering group for SocInvest 2010, the UK’s leading regeneration funding summit. He is joined by Core Cities director Chris Murray and Christopher Munday of the Welsh Assembly.

Event organiser 3Fox International (3FI) set up the high-level steering group as part of the plan to increase the influence and value of SocInvest 2010. Its members will contribute to the planning of next year’s event to ensure that it builds on the success of the first two annual summits. The third event in the series will be held on April 13th 2010 in London.

3FI is inviting representatives from all the key sectors involved in regeneration funding activities, including financial institutions, developers, law firms and regional and local government funding and finance officers.
