Desire for speedy action on Tax Increment Financing

In its Pre-Budget Report, the Government has announced its intention to “continue to examine the framework needed to implement tax increment financing and consider the primary legislation that would be needed if schemes were to be introduced.”
Chris Murray, director, Core Cities, a prominent lobbiest for the case for implementing TIF principles in the form of Accelerated Development Zones, is looking for a speedy follow through.
"Whilst we welcome the news that our proposals have been included in the pre-budget report at this difficult financial time, we hope that Government will now move urgently to consult upon and initiate a pilot phase for TIF / ADZ. read more
Tif list reveals funding gap details

Unseen documents revealing the identity of schemes bidding for new freedoms to fund infrastructure show just how far from viability some of the UK's largest regeneration schemes will remain without government intervention. (Sourced from Regeneration & Renewal.)
Following the announcement in April's Budget that the Treasury would examine the potential for introducing the US-style Tax Increment Financing (Tif) tool, 82 local public bodies submitted a total of 124 bids to pilot the model. Next week, the chancellor is expected to announce a pathfinder scheme to trial a few of the proposals, now called accelerated development zones (ADZs). read more

Kickstart round one details confirmed

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has finished its assessment of the 270 housing schemes shortlisted for funding under the £400 million Kickstart housing delivery programme announced in the 2009 budget.

Community Infrastructure Levy concerns raised

More concerns have been raised by developers and local authorities about the forthcoming Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).
The consultative period for the proposed CIL is finished. The measure is scheduled to come into force on April 6th next year as part of the Planning Act 2008. read more
